I am very exited to release my new ss 2015 collection!

My 2015 collection is all about simple elegance.

Inspiration for this collection is centred around uncommon, eye-catching materials. These materials have inspired me to try new, exciting and experimental techniques to best bring out their natural beauty.

I have used beautiful and rare vintage raffia for the boater and headband bases. This is a material which gives a most incredible sheen. My technique of raffia wrapping is an extremely time consuming method. You will not be seeing hats like this on every second head!

The trims I have used to pair with this are simplistic yet sculptural and are made from futuristic foil, colourful silk abaca, classic silk satin and shiny metallic braid.

This time we used fabric covered and straw bases and stunning silk flowers to produce our perchers!

The past week I was teaching at Louise Macdonald Milliner's studio, located in Melbourne, Australia. Louise has students from all corners of Australia, even overseas, coming to attend her week-long millinery workshops during the summer months. This week I taught leather blocking and tricks with wire as three out of five days of this week's summer school. I love the headpieces that resulted from the ladies efforts - gravity-defying leather masterpieces! 

What a fun couple of days we have had at Louise Macdonald's Melbourne studio, where I have been teaching students how to make these stylish and streetwise flat caps. Students from all over Australia (and a few from overseas, too!) come to learn millinery in this relaxed environment. Will be doing it all again next week when I will be teaching leather blocking and tricks with wire.

What a day! The Millinery Award on Oaks Day at Flemington boasted 90 spectacular entries by Australian and international milliners. Love Lotus was judged a top 10 finalist with a gold and silver metallic headpiece, with Swarovski crystal centres, inspired by fireworks. My model was once again the lovely Lauren Corbett.

I have just returned from the most amazing trip to London and beyond...my prize for winning the 2012 Oaks Day Millinery Award!

I just wanted to thank the VRC, Emirates Airlines, Corporate Traveller, Antler Luggage, Myer and The Sofitel for all contributing to such a wonderful and memorable experience for myself and my family. We will never forget this trip!

I so look forward to judging the Millinery Award on Oaks Day this year and seeing the incredible millinery Australia is famous for.
